Mountain Chalet

This a proposal for a thoroughly modern home located in the Alps. The angular features of the house incorporate three main triangular gables which are inspired by the mountainous landscape that surrounds the property.

All three gables are linked and at lower level form a combined lounge with flexible entertaining and seating areas which overlap with a showroom for the owner’s car collection. The cars are displayed on rotating turntables framed by floor to ceiling glazing.

A sculptural sweeping staircase takes inhabitants upstairs to the bedroom suites with double aspect views of the surrounding mountains.

The house is approached by a long sweeping driveway and the owners can drive straight into the house at ground floor level.

The palette of materials is kept natural and almost minimalist with exposed timber ceiling joists, timber cladding and locally sourced stone flooring.
